Chamomile





Botanical name: Anthemis Nobilis - Roman Chamomile / Matricaria Chamomilla - German Chamomile
Botanical family: Compositae
Part of plant used: Flower heads
Origin: Cultivated in Britain, Germany, France and Morocco. Easily spoilt, keeps only about 1 year.
Description: Fruity, apple-like fragrance.
History: Recognized by the Egyptians for its healing properties where nervous complaints were concerned.

Properties and Indications:

* Anti-inflammatory particularly for the skin
* Regulates menstrual cycle
* Problems associates with menopause
* Teething with children
* Hypochondriacs
* Migraines, insomnia, psychosomatic allergies
* Anorexia
* Digestive problems in children - diarrhea, gastric and intestinal cramp
* Inflamed skin conditions - eczema, burns, boils, herpes, conjunctivitis, uticaria
* Nervous depression, hysterics, nervous crises
* Fevers of nervous origin
* Analgesic qualities - calms irritability, temperature and nerves
* Calming for intense nightmares and paranoia

Personality:

Reserved, delicate, pale skinned

Not to be used in early pregnancy
